Color grading Canon Log 3 videos

Project & Media Color Setup (DaVinci Resolve)

Project settings

Color science: DaVinci YRGB Color Managed
Automatic color management: Off
Color processing mode: HDR DaVinci Wide Gamut Intermediate
Output Color space: Rec.709 Gamma 2.4

Media

Right click on media file:

Input color space > Canon > Canon Cinema Gamut / Canon Log 3

Color (Nodes)

Create 3 more nodes using Alt + S (so you end up with 4 nodes total).

  1. 1st node - Leave intact, for base adjustments.
  2. 2nd node - Color Space Transform
    Output Color Space: Rec. 709
    Output Gamma: Cineon Film Log

  3. 3rd node - Select and apply desired LUT:
    Film Looks → Any one

  4. 4th node - Color Space Transform
Input Color Space - Rec. 709
    Input Gamma - Gamma 2.4

Note: "Rec. 7098" appears in the original text — if that was a typo you may want to use Rec. 709 instead.

Quick summary: Project uses DaVinci YRGB Color Managed with Rec.709 output; media set to Canon Cinema Gamut / Canon Log 3; node stack: base → CST (to Rec.709/Cineon) → LUT → CST (to Rec.709/Gamma 2.4).

Most DaVinci Resolve “Film Look” LUTs are designed to be applied to Rec.709 / Gamma 2.4 footage — in other words, already normalized color, not Log or Wide Gamut.
